I know that sometime you have so much going on in your business that planning more than a week out feels pointless? But if you aren’t planning at all, how will you reach your business goals?

I love planning and goal setting but even for me at certain times in my business journey the idea of setting out clear plans or strategies can feel overwhelming. There might be so many new opportunities coming up that you don’t know what is going to happen next, or maybe you are going through a shift in your focus so planning anything can feel forced.

Instead of getting bogged down in the details, try simply setting a monthly intention for yourself.

Usually at the start of July I would be crafting all kinds of plans for myself and my business but this year that doesn’t feel helpful.

The Artful Business Conference is only 2 months away. Between now and then my new business ‘ello yellow is moving into a new home along with two other amazing businesses here in Townsville, and I am working on self-publishing a book. There is a lot going on and I want to be able to just go with the flow for a while. But I still want to be moving forward.

If the thought of working out where you want to be and the actions to get you there not to mention trying to decide what you need to do today, seems like an insurmountable task, try instead just setting a monthly intention.

Decide on one word, or a few words for what you want to focus on in your business for the next month.

For me July is about “quality content creation”.

This is about getting back into the habit of writing on this blog, it’s about improving the way I use the email list and getting more content out to my subscribers. It is about getting the first draft of the book I am working on done.

There are lots of other things I need to do in and around my businesses throughout July but this will be my focus.

What will your intention be?
